Abolishing Slavery

After joining a raid on a group of bandits and freeing a few slaves, Arik is feeling more confident in himself and his allies. With a map in hand, everyone (except Bat) returned to town to rest and obtain payment for the task. Perhaps there is more work to be done and more money to be earned out there!

Arik is seeking like-minded adventurers to scout out a few of the noted slave camps, slaughter the nasties and hopefully bring home a little more shiny!

Oh goody! This is why I love giving people maps.

I would love to DM this since the Goliaths are sort of my territory now. The week before Christmas is golden but the week after is a no go, I'll be out of town.

Im good the 20th, 21st or the 23rd.

Out of curiosity, since I'll need to roll up a new PC if I were to join in the fun, what level of PCs are we talking about here?

The highest level PC in The Wastes (to my knowledge) is level 2.

December 23rd is a pretty sweet spot for me. I have the 24th off of work, so I do not need to wake up at 5am. Although I would also say that the 24th itself is an even sweeter spot.

I 'm in, as long as you're cool with Swift Ravager killing slavers and taking their stuff.

Of course, this is all dependant on his surviving the interstitial outing of pure vengeance on Dec 17th.

Lots of level 1 and 2 characters. You'd start at level 1 unless you spend EP from your bank to be higher. Everyone starts at 1st level, by default. No free levels. =)

The 23rd works for me too.

The 23rd *tentatively* works for me. Jarrol is now a MIGHTY AND GLORIOUS level 3, but I'm considering bringing my Seeker or Rogue instead, unless we've got a critical need for a healer.

I know that, but there's no point in me saying I'll join in if the rest of the party makeup is much higher than the 1st level I can bring with me.

Assuming that he'll even survive his first adventure out in the waste....

So shall we say the 23rd then? If Dan wants to host that's fine, I could also host if we started around 7pm (I live 20mins north of Dan)

Don't worry about bringing a level 1 character. Most people still have level 1s, Daniel just happens to be pretty good at surviving.

Daniel has gotten most of his EP from GMing. It takes more prep work, but risks your character's health less. That said, Jarrol had a close call on Monday already.

So right now we have:

Bohrdumb - Arik Dukat (Genasi Fighter)

Dhlevine(maybe) - Seeker(protecting)

I've always thought Seekers seem like a lot of fun but I've still never had a chance to play one.

A couple notes, y'all.

First, while 1 is still the most common level, bear in mind that that may just put us all in the same coffin. The Waste is a sandbox, and encounters are *not* keyed to party level. As we/you push farther away from Tyr in pursuit of the slavers, it will get more dangerous. Confidential to Elvorix: kick our asses.

Second, while I know y'all love Jarrol, I was hoping to take a break from playing leader. I was going to use my Seeker (but he's a protecting seeker, so at least somewhat different from Wednesday's elf, probably), but I don't want to leave us leaderless. Anyone else ready to man up and heal?

I'm still not 100% available (need to get my wife to sign my leave slip) but I've always been interested in trying out a Shaman. So if I can make it on the 23rd, I'll bring a Shaman instead!

PFFF!!! The best defense is a good offense! Strike now, strike hard, strike fast! I'm all about an all-Striker party.

This is how I see the roles:
+ The Controller keeps groups of monsters in line, ready to be killed by the Striker
+ The Defender keeps any monsters who slipped past the Controller's spells from nailing the Striker
+ The Leader covers anyone's screw-ups, especially the Striker, who has the best shot at making a kill
+ THE STRIKER KILLS ALL!

Get in there, drop your dailies and Action Points at the first opportunity, focus-fire, kill an enemy before they get to act even once. It was pretty hot in 1939, and it'll be pretty hot at the game table. Like they say, the worst condition you can give to a monster isn't stunned, it isn't blinded, it isn't even dominated.

The worst condition is dead.

Wednesday - I wasn't trying to bully! It was more that, since Jarrol is my primary, I feel responsible for making sure that healing is covered before I bring someone else. I also have a Gnoll rogue I've never tried out, but I don't have a painted mini for him, yet.

Steve - OK, big man. I'm not sending any of PCs out in a party without a Leader, though, *especially* one that contains Swift Ravager and no healer.

I'd love to play in this game, but unfortunately the 23rd is completely out of the question for me. I could do the 20th or 21st, as was proposed, and have no problem bringing my bard Quinn along and covering Leader. Since he has so far been my only Waste character to survive, I feel it my duty to throw him DIRECTLY INTO THE FACE OF DANGER!

With a Leader in mind, how do we feel about moving to the 20th or 21st? Is that still playable for people?

I could also do the 20th but I'm pretty sure the 21st I have another game so that would be no good for me.

So let's see what the 20th holds for this adventuring crew, and how soon Swift Ravager will get us all killed.

If we made it for the 22nd, I could definitely make it. Any chance of that?

Unfortunatly if the game is moved to the 20th OR the 21st, you will be forced to tread down the safe (and less exciting!) path of not having Swift Ravager. For me, those dates are forbidden.

But seriously, Bohrdumb, you started this thread/expedition, you make the call. You can't please everyone in this situation, and if you want to change the date to the 21st I will certainly NOT be offended. You game when YOU want to.

However, I whole heartily recommend hiring heavily from the heavy-hitting Strikers herein!

I probably *can* make the 20th, but would vastly prefer the 23rd.

If there is space I can make the 20th (Monday). I probably can't make tues or thurs that week. We'd would be fine but I think I is off the table.

edit: stupid iPhone.... I can make Monday or Wednesday, but not Tuesday or Thursday.

Right now it looks like 4-player parties either Mon or Wed. If we could get a someone to make it a 5-player party I would feel better about stating a certain date and going with it.
